As I conclude my recent blogs on rest, I want to give some helpful suggestions.

Resting can include taking a nap during the day, cuddling up with a book, or playing a mindless video game, but many people (including myself) also find active ways to rest. Yes – active rest.

Going on walks, vigorous exercise, golfing, hiking, long vacations, etc., can be invaluable ways to relax and get much needed mental breaks.

Alex Soojung-Kim Pang, author of the book, Rest, comments, “We shouldn’t regard rest as a mere physical necessity to be satisfied grudgingly – we should see it as an opportunity.”

So, I challenge you to take at least 30 minutes a day for just you. Find an activity that is life-giving and guard that daily time valiantly. On the weekend, spend at least two hours all to yourself doing something you enjoy.

After a few weeks, you will find yourself more satisfied, happier and fulfilled. We MUST learn to Rest Well.
