In our fast-paced work environment, it can become easy to see people as agents to get things done (cogs in a wheel). You may even see people as a means to an end rather than as the unique individuals that they are.
Here is a little test: Do you make it a point to learn and remember the names of people at work?
If not, this could be a good indicator that you see the people on your team or those you lead as objects and not individual people with their own thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
If you want a stronger team dynamic, a more productive and efficient work environment, and for the people who work for you to be loyal and to have your back, try seeing them and treating them like people and unique individuals.
Oh, and don’t forget to learn their names!
