Over the next several weeks, I will be pointing out certain qualities of great leaders. This week, I will focus on how great leaders truly care about those they lead and oftentimes put others’ needs and self-interests above their own.

It’s easier said than done, but when a leader prioritizes the well-being of others, something remarkable happens in return.

Those they lead feel a sense of belonging, safety, and trust. The work environment changes from one of having to do a job, to one of loyalty and increased job satisfaction. The work environment becomes more productive, enjoyable and the organization advances.

And what’s more, caring for the well-being of the others is reciprocated among team members.

When leaders choose to really care about others around them, they move from good to great.

Remember, people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
