Perspective is one of the key elements of making it through BUD/S.  It is also one of the key elements in defeating temptation. If a BUD/S candidate can only see (in the midst of misery) his pain and suffering, he will most definitely quit- or DOR (drop on request).  When we are faced with a tempting moment, we must see the forest from the trees.  If not, we will be consumed in thought with the very thing we are trying to avoid, and inevitably we will succumb.  If we can train our minds to focus on the end goal, the power and poison of the tempting thought loses its potency.  So, in the throes of your greatest temptations, what are the end goals you need to focus on?

Perspective: the ability to see the big picture (or goal) without getting stuck or trapped in the moment.
