We live in a day and age where most people talk about what they are “against” not what they’re “for”.
For the most part, we are a culture that blazes the “I don’t like ___” trail while giving very little consideration to what we do like. This adversarial approach tends to pit us against others and stirs up unnecessary conflict.
During my Conflict Resolution webinars, I often see people who have drawn lines in the sand and are unwilling to consider the common ground that may exist with their adversaries. I think if we started to tell the world what we stood “for” rather than “against,” it would not only put us in a position to find common ground, but we would also avoid meaningless debates and arguments.
So, what are you “for?”
